"Delevan's Greenwing Hideaway"
About the Artist
Jeffrey William Roderick grew up hunting and fishing in Northern California. Having a never-ending desire to be in the outdoors has resulted in his vast knowledge of his desired craft. Wildlife Art and the outdoors has been a part of Jeff’s life since his early childhood when he would often hunt with his father and three brothers. This love of the outdoors has translated well to his art of painting.
The subtleties of waterfowl movement and behavior Jeff experienced in the field are reflected in the detailed artwork he creates. Jeff’s desired palette is a self-mixed spectrum of acrylic paints. These colors are layered in thin washes onto a prepared board using the smallest of brushes available.
Probably the single largest challenge for Jeff when it comes to his art is the fact that he is colorblind. Often his clients are amazed to discover this and are intrigued by the fact that even with this unique challenge Jeff’s birds are truly accurate in nature and detail.
Some of Jeff’s more recent accomplishments are as follows:
- 2008—Awarded the prestigious Frank C. Bellrose Award by the California Waterfowl Association for extraordinary efforts on behalf of Wood Ducks and the California Wood Duck Program
- 2008–2009—California Ducks Unlimited Sponsor Artist of the Year
- 2008—Juried into Pacific Flyway Wildfowl Festival
- 2007–2008—California Ducks Unlimited Artist of the Year
- 2007—Juried into Pacific Flyway Wildfowl Festival
- 2006–2007—California Waterfowl Association, Life Sponsor Artist of the Year
